I have spent large amounts of time in Tibet and I am deeply fascinated and puzzled about this vast, beautiful and extremely complicated place. In 2008 violent clashes erupted everywhere on the Tibetan highlands. They were probably started by Tibetans but the Chinese hardliners has benefited from them. These days Tibet is more militarized than it has been for decades. The paradox is that while political and military pressure is heavier than ever, the economy is thriving. And most Tibetans are benefitting from improved standards of living. My personal pictures from Tibet are painted in weird, uneasy colors.
